Ensemble at the SMI Annual Conference

We are excited to announce that Cato Davies, co-founder of Ensemble, will be speaking at the Society of Maritime Industries (SMI) Annual Conference on September 10-11. Cato’s presentation will focus on the pivotal role startups play in driving the digitalisation of the maritime industry.

While digitalisation is not a new concept in maritime, its implementation often faces significant barriers - conservative industry culture, legacy systems, skills gaps, and procurement challenges, to name a few. These obstacles typically highlight the buyer's perspective, yet the role of software providers is equally crucial.

Startups are uniquely positioned to drive innovation, offering agile and highly specialised tools that traditional incumbents can’t. By focusing on industry-specific challenges, they provide solutions that not only meet current needs but create new forms of specialised operational data that will drive further efficiencies in the future.

In addition, Cato will participate in a panel moderated by Peter Collinson, and the panel will include Richard Buckley from 90POE, Jade O'Leary from BAE Systems Digital, Eugene Bari from Ecomar Propulsion, Euan Duncan from Kongsberg Maritime Limited, Leo McLeman from UK Hydrographic Office and Simon Brown from BMT.
